Ham Hough & Lentil

A family favourite that is warm ,comforting and healthy using smoked ham, lentils and vegetables

RYVITA® Recipe

Ingredients

  • RYVITA® Cracked Black Pepper
  • 250g red lentils
  • ham hough (smoked ham on bone)
  • approx 4 pints of water
  • one large diced onion
  • three diced carrots
  • one diced small swede
  • few chopped spinach leaves
  • one ham stock cube
  • salt & pepper
  • i/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Method

boil a ham hough and red lentils in water for about one hour, add onion, carrots, swede and spinach leaves, a ham stock cube. Simmer for about one to one and a half hours. Remove ham, add cayenne pepper and season soup with salt & pepper. Liquidise (optional). Shred ham from bone and add to soup.
